About the OHS Biggs Scholars Program

Wel­come to a new era of this impor­tant pro­gram now offer­ing com­pre­hen­sive career devel­op­ment gen­er­at­ing well-round­ed organ advo­cates! The pur­pose of OHS Big­gs Schol­ars Pro­gram is to equip and edu­cate the next gen­er­a­tion of organ per­form­ers, researchers, and builders to appre­ci­ate and pre­serve the his­toric val­ue of the organ.

This high­ly selec­tive schol­ar­ship is award­ed annu­al­ly to a class of four (4) schol­ars for a three (3) year term. Gen­er­ous finan­cial sup­port will cov­er atten­dance at Sum­mer Fes­ti­vals, includ­ing reg­is­tra­tion, trav­el, lodg­ing, and meals. In addi­tion, var­i­ous lec­tures, work­shops, and mas­ter­class­es will be sched­uled through­out the year to sup­port our Schol­ars in their development.

And, per­haps most sig­nif­i­cant­ly, the select group of OHS Schol­ars will have the sup­port of the expand­ing OHS com­mu­ni­ty from per­for­mance, research, and intern­ship oppor­tu­ni­ties at a host of venues, insti­tu­tions, and com­pa­nies. We look for­ward to hav­ing you as part of our family!

This pro­gram orig­i­nat­ed in 1978 and has pro­vid­ed over 200 schol­ar­ships to offer finan­cial assis­tance to attend annu­al con­ven­tions and com­pli­men­ta­ry mem­ber­ship to the Organ His­tor­i­cal Soci­ety.
